MentorI am a mother of four grown children, a grandmother of three, and a wife of 36(+) years now. I attended the University Of Mississippi and graduated with a BA in Education with teaching credentials allowing me to instruct K-12 in Health Sciences. While teaching in public high school for three years, I also coached various sports, including volleyball, basketball, softball, and track. I became a Christian after my firstborn son was born and went on to do post graduate work at Florida Atlantic University. I was a certified teacher in both Florida and Washington State but chose to homeschool full time for the next 12 years, consecutively, after moving to WA, and finding the public system in opposition to our beliefs. It was during this time as I was teaching my four children that I gained the most knowledge in how to teach.

The degree I held from the university was nothing in comparison to the ‘degree’ I earned as a Homeschool teacher. I successfully instructed 4 children into adulthood and all are competent, independent, and successful adults in their own rights today. Being a mom was, and is, the ‘degree’ of which I’m the MOST blessed to have been given the opportunity to ‘earn’ and am thankful to God for being able to teach my children when it wasn’t even common or “cool.” I found being the instructor of my own children to be challenging but necessary and, looking back, personally, I definitely learned more than any professor was able to teach me in the artificial environment of the college lecture hall.
That being said, I was also blessed to be able to serve as a foster parent to many kids over a 17 year period while teaching and raising my own. The mentorship heart necessary to serve them has stayed with me and grown to expand to other teaching roles throughout my life. I was a BSF leader for many years, for most of which I taught junior high and high school students. I’ve taught women’s Bible study and am currently a small group leader in my local church body.
I’ve been blessed to have many life experiences, both personally and professionally. I graduated from Broward County Police Academy and served honorably as a law enforcement officer. I was Caretaker for a large city park and acted as the liaison between the city and public. I completed training as an FAA-certified Flight Attendant and traveled the world and was blessed to learn of and meet many people from all cultures and countries abroad over my 20 years working for major airlines.
